Reuss bridge, Meitschligen

Gurtnellen, Switzerland / 04.2016 - 08.2018

The Reuss bridge in Meitschligen is part of the K2 Gotthardstrasse. In 2014, initial maintenance works were carried out on the span's superstructure. Two years later, PORR began the sealing process with a reinforced concrete slab reaching across both ends of the bridge. Works were completed in August 2018. The road surface of the heritage-listed natural stone arched bridge was completely rebuilt and widened slightly.

Renovation with historical significance.

During the first construction stage, the PORR team finished the new road surface slab with a sealing layer of polybutadiene polymer-modified bitumen and poured asphalt. The next step involved the creation of a partially anchored supporting wall and the renewal of the road superstructure. The completion of the central road surface with rapid-setting concrete ensured that road traffic could remain uninterrupted during the day.

What ultimately counts in the construction business is successfully completed projects. PORR has many of these.
