Axenstrasse, rock protection Dornisporn

Morschach SZ, Switzerland / 03.2021 - 11.2021

From March 2021 to November 2021, our rock team secured an over 100m high rock face covering an area of around 10,000m² on behalf of the Federal Roads Office FEDRO.

Almost daily our rock specialists were challenged with the special conditions on the imposing rock face above the Axenstrasse. The work was carried out with the help of a 46-storey, 92m high scaffolding and on a hanging rope - partly overhanging. The material had to be delivered by helicopter via air.

Spectacular rock stabilisation project.

In total, PORR installed rock bolts with a total length of 6,000m and mounted 4,500m² of steel wire nets as well as 25m of rockfall protection nets. The rock has now been cleaned over an area of 8,000m². 160m³ of rock were removed. Finally, shotcrete work was carried out to secure the surface of the rock.

What ultimately counts in the construction business is successfully completed projects. PORR has many of these.
