With a length of 57km, the Gotthard base tunnel is not only the longest railway tunnel in the world, but also a unique masterpiece of the engineer's art. PORR assumed responsibility for the completion of various construction works on the open north section, including a water treatment plant and the removal of installation buildings.

Site installation for a centenary project.

For the northern installation site, the following core services were carried out:

  • Three reinforced concrete ponds
  • Two tubular basements with installations
  • Renovation and expansion of the preparation pond
  • Surrounds and fencing as well as securing the installation site

What ultimately counts in the construction business is successfully completed projects. PORR has many of these.
